Level One Coaching Course – 27 and 28 February

A Level One Coaching Course will be held on the above date at Dundee Ice Arena. It is specifically aimed at coaches Recreational Hockey but is open to anyone who wishes to gain a Level One licence.

From August 2010 all coaches must be qualified whether they are recreational or not. This must be done not only to ensure that all coaching is properly organised and monitored but also to ensure that the governing body, Scottish Ice Hockey (SIH) meets the requirements for IIHF auditing and Child Protection.

The course lasts two days and contains an on-ice element. The Saturday session begins at 9.00 a.m. and finishes at about 4.30 p.m. The Sunday follows a similar timetable but has an on-ice session in the morning. Coaches are expected to bring a notebook/paper, pen/pencil and a coach board if they have one. For the on-ice session it is up to the coach how he kits up but obviously skates, stick and gloves are essential. (Wearing a helmet is at each individual coach’s discretion / risk.

The fee for the course is £75 payable in advance when booking. Forms can be found on the website www.scottishicehockey.net following the link for coaching downloads. Applications should be sent by the 20 February 2010.
